Rob Moll
Heaven Is for Real seeks to prove that element of our faith that is farthest from empirical proof. In the form of a 4-year-old boy, first his family and church and now all his readers are able to know for sure that heaven awaits us. The proof is here if we only but listen to it. Yet this is exactly what Jesus said would not happen. In his parable of the rich man and Lazarus, Abraham tells the man suffering in hell, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:31). So what are we to make of these stories?

MLK
Martin Luther King, Jr.
"If a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live."
--MLK, Jr. Speech in Detroit, Michigan on June 23, 1963
This Monday, January 17th, our nation again honors the memory of Martin Luther King, Jr, who's life was tragically cut short on April 4th, 1968. In the wake of the tragic shootings in Tucson, AZ, we realize as a nation, we are far from the dream that the Reverend envisioned for America and the world at large. Mahatma Gandhi exhorted, "Be the change you want to see in the world." We cannot leave action to politicians or activists. During the course of the weekend, use this holiday as a talking point with your families: What can we do to realize change in our own lives?
California African American Museum
On January 16th at 1:00pm, join the CAAM as they celebrate the inspiration of one man's dream. View film screenings of his speeches and experience artists Freda Payne and Jeffrey Anderson Gunter's performances on their main stage representing the diverse communities of MLK's dream. For more info, visit their site at: http://www.caamuseum.org/pp.htm
